We offer year-round instruction for girls and gender-expansive students to bring their audacious ideas to life. With three after-school sessions (fall, winter, spring), six weeks of summer programs, and weekend workshops, girls can begin or continue along multiple pathways at Girls Garage. From woodworking and carpentry to MIG welding and screenprinting, our programs challenge girls to use technical skills, creativity, and their individual voice to make a positive impact on our community.
This no-cost class challenges high school girls and gender-expansive youth to make large-scale graphic posters and installations in response to issues that are meaningful to them. Students will learn screen printing techniques to translate ideas into graphic activist art!
Our Advanced Design/Build program is a year-round cohort of our most committed builder girls and gender-expansive youth. This cohort brings together 9th-12th grade students from diverse backgrounds to tackle complex, community-based projects designed and built by students themselves.
Construction + Community invites high school girls and gender-expansive youth with an interest in architecture, construction trades, design, and engineering, to learn technical construction skills in the context of community service.
This week-long institute introduces 9th-12th grade students to multiple design and building techniques, skills, media, and a community of fearless builder women. From graphic design and screen printing to carpentry, welding, and architectural drafting, girls will explore the possibilities of building in their own lives, learning, and futures. This program is by application only, at no cost to participants if accepted, and limited to a cohort of 16 students.
Over a week-long experience, students will design and build projects to take home as well as projects responding to real-world challenges. Along the way, students will learn skills in carpentry, graphic design, metalwork, collaboration, and teamwork. Our summer camps are taught by talented female and nonbinary educators and builders with decades of experience.
