Program Information

In this 3-hour adult workshop led by our resident self-taught risograph aficionado and Communications Manager Bethany Kaylor, participants will learn the basics of risograph printing. What’s risograph printing, you ask? We describe it as a hybrid of photocopying and screenprinting, producing high volumes of prints by printing one color at a time.

After a quick history lesson about risograph printing, Bethany will provide a quick rundown of the risograph’s mechanics, including the master “burning” process and ink layering techniques. Under Bethany’s instruction, each student will get hands-on experience of manually operating the machine. This workshop is a perfect chance for curious printmakers (and printmakers-to-be) to learn more about this incredible machine! No artistic experience necessary.

Participants will experiment with pre-made patterns, textures and their own text to create their very own prints! By the end of the class, each participant will have created an edition of 3-color prints to share with the group and take home.
