Materials and processes: Chop saw, jigsaw, drill, driver, clamp
Session: Wood Class, Winter 2019
Builders: 12 girls, ages 9-13
Description: These girls custom-built their bookshelves in accordance with their sizes and shelf-related needs. They first decided on the height of their shelves, before using the chop saw to cut side pieces out of 1×12 wood. They each drew their unique swoop down the middle of the 1×12 pieces, and cut those using jigsaws. Working in pairs, they used clamps to connect one of the newly-cut pieces to the backing side, creating an L-shape. They used drills and drivers to attach the side pieces, and proceeded to attach two shelves. They attached the top and bottom pieces with drills and drivers and voila!
