Session: Advanced Design/Build, Winter 2023
Builders: 12 builders
Materials: hardwood (cherry, maple, walnut), wood glue, clamps, sandpaper, chop saw
Description: Our Advanced Design/Build cohort took a detour from their community-based construction project this session to make something to take home: cutting boards! Not just any cutting boards, but Escher-inspired optical illusion cutting boards! Each board was composed of 40 square modules of bevel-cut and glued walnut, maple, and cherry that were patched, sanded, and oiled to a beautiful sheen. The end result was an incredible, mind-boggling geometric pattern that graced each board with a sense of three-dimensional depth!
