Twelve teen girls in our winter Protest + Print class have a lot to say about the world they want to see. In this no-cost after-school course, girls are exploring the history and role of printmaking in activist movements and social justice. Over the first few weeks, we worked together as a whole group to make a collective print with each girl’s personal message of protest represented on a picket sign. We’ve learned and practiced our screenprinting technique led by our instructor, HyeYoon Song. The result is a beautiful graphic representation of their hopes, dreams, and fears. These girls are the future!
