Renowned journalist Allison Arieff wrote about Girls Garage for the MIT Technology Review, where she serves as the Editorial Director of Print. Titled “The nonprofit that lets girls build they want to see,” the article explores the purpose and impact of Girls Garage in the community. “I love the idea of the ‘old guard’ doing a double take when they see an all-female Girls Garage construction site—young and old, all races and identities,” says our Founder and Executive Director, Emily Pilloton-Lam. “I think innovation happens when people are challenged (or sometimes forced) to reexamine their assumptions about who’s in charge of what and who’s supposed to do what.”
