We’re proud to announce that we have been named one of six West Berkeley organizations that will receive community investment funds from Bayer for three years. The award is part of Bayer’s 30-year Development Agreement with the City of Berkeley, wherein Bayer will invest $33.1 million in community benefits. The awards were split into the following categories: Climate Action, Health Equity, and Economic Resilience. Girls Garage was selected for Economic Resilience category because of our commitment to train the next generation of young women and gender-expansive youth in the STEM and trades, two industries where women—especially women of color—are greatly underrepresented. This generous support from Bayer will help us fund three years of our free teen construction and design programs for students across the Bay Area. Girls Garage is on a mission to transform the gender and racial demographics of STEM industries, and we are grateful to have community support from Bayer to help us continue this work.
