We’re thrilled to announce that Craig Newmark Philanthropies has awarded Girls Garage a $10,000 general support grant for 2024! This support will go towards funding the expenses of our free teen programming, including building materials, staff support, and other expenses. By keeping our teen programs free for participants, we support and reach a diverse community of young builders and their families, 67% of whom attend for 3+ years, and 78% of whom identify as youth of color.

This is the 5th consecutive year that Craig Newmark Philanthropies has supported Girls Garage as part of the foundation’s women in tech initiative. To date, Craig Newmark Philanthropies has awarded us over $200,000 to help us address the stark gender gap in STEM industries. Currently, only 27% of the STEM workforce are women, and 50% of them leave within a decade. Equipping young people with the tools to build a better world is more important than ever, and we’re deeply honored to receive support from Craig Newmark Philanthropies in achieving this goal.
