This class will take place virtually via Zoom! Participants will need access to the Zoom app on a computer or mobile device (laptop or desktop computer recommended).

Participants in this program will practice their skills in visual storytelling through the creation of comics and graphics. Students will respond to a variety of prompts, critique one another’s work, and build an illustrated voice through their stories. Led by Meghann Harris, our talented graphic design and visual arts instructor who teaches at the Baltimore Design School, girls will bring ideas, hopes, and voice to life on paper and translate their individual stories into works of art. Previous exercises have included comics, identity illustrations, and representations of current social issues.

Girls may use their choice of art supplies to complete each of the creative exercises. At minimum, girls will need paper or a sketchbook (8.5″x11″ or slightly larger), a pencil, a black pen, and some way to add color to their illustrations (such as colored pencils, markers, crayons, or watercolor). A Sharpie marker and a white gel pen will also be useful.
