Fall Reflections: Program and Project Recap

There has been so much happening at Girls Garage!

As we head into the Winter Season, we are happy to reflect on what has been a spectacular Fall of building and connecting.

We lead five 8-week classes in Wood, Welding, Engineering, and Entrepreneurship, many weekend workshops for teachers and beginner builders, and hosted a Gala Fundraiser which raised $20,000 for scholarships and materials!

A few more highlights:

Our Engineering students worked together to build four benches, following key design principles. Welding students made side-tables with engraved wood tops. Wood students each took home a hand-made spoon, and our Entrepreneurs created five group projects to sell at our Gift Fair!

Over 200 teachers worked with us in our space and off-site, exploring through hands-on activities different ways to use Project-Based Learning and to inspire creativity in their classrooms.

We met and worked with over 300 elementary and middle school students through Maker Fairs across the East Bay.

Suffice it to say, it has been an inspiring Fall. We are deeply grateful for all of the support we have received from folks donating their time and money to this effort.

If you are interested in supporting our programs, you can make a one-time or recurring donation here. Your generosity will go towards keeping our classes affordable and accessible to all girls!

With thanks and a fist held high,

the Girls Garage Crew
