In this 2-day co-ed kid-parent workshop, you’ll design and build your very own custom skateboard from scratch! We’re excited to host guest instructor, Matt Berger of SK8Makers, author of “The Handmade Skateboard” in this skill-building class for all levels. We’ll start with a design history lesson on the evolution of skateboard to influence your original design. Then we’ll practice woodworking techniques including vacuum-press wood bending; cutting and shaping with hand and power tools; and applying a wood finish. You’ll also attach trucks/wheels and grip tape. At the end of the class you’ll walk away with a one-of-a-kind skateboard deck and the skills to take on your next bent-wood woodworking project with confidence. Skateboard hardware (trucks, wheels) are included. Please note that each parent-child pair will make ONE skateboard together.
Registration is $125 for the 2-day workshop, for one child (ages 8+) and one parent. We won’t be providing lunch but feel free to bring a stash of your own snacks!
