For girls ages 13-17, this advanced class will be a fun and challenging project using carpentry, engineering, and power tools skills. Over 6 weeks, girls will work in small teams to build inhabitable structures and shelters using only 2x4s and screws. Work will begin using scale model wood and drafting/drawing of design plans, and culminate with multiple weeks of constructing the structures in full scale outside. We’ll also talk about industry-standard carpentry framing methods and terminology.
Please note that this class will meet at REALM Charter High School at 1222 University Avenue, where we have ample space to build structures outside, and not at Girls Garage.
